Isabelle wishes to inspire people from her social media by being true to herself and daring to be different.

When I started La Peau Sauvage, I knew I’d meet women who would inspire me, and Isabelle is definitely one of them! Sweet, beautiful and strong, this girl is a weight loss motivator who inspires people all over the world.

Socheata (or Ochi, like she prefers to be called) is one of the sweetest people I've had the pleasure of photographing.
She wanted her story to be called "It's ok to let go!"
Quoting her own words, here's what she said: "There is no time or hurry to figure things out. Late bloomers, introvert, extrovert you make things go at your own pace. No matter what age you are. Not knowing where you are going with your life or career -- it's all ok. I found my path at 34 and slowly trying to built a career that I never thought I could get the chance to do. Always be grateful and take life as it comes. Depression and anxiety are beasts that can be tamed at your own pace."
To inspire other women, Ochi says: "Love yourself, enjoy the good and bad because if you can't love yourself how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?"
Ochi is an amazing baker! If you wanna check out her work, you can visit her Instagram.
Émilie is a journalist and writer who is currently studying Communication and Feminist Studies. She's also a passionate yoga practitioner and teacher. Marie C. J.
Since Marie was a little girl, she always had an eye for beauty — wether it was in art, painting, makeup, hair or clothes. Her passion for fashion grew deeper and led her to pursue an education in fashion marketing. She’s still a part time freelance stylist, and had the chance to work with some of her favourite magazines.
Her biggest motivation in life is making people happy. Marie is pretty much a childless mom; always trying to make sure people around her feel loved and appreciated. She believes that having a good heart and being generous to others makes her stronger -- and this is the one thing no one can take away from her.
To inspire other women, Marie says: “The body we have doesn’t determine our happiness. I have curves, I wear crop tops and I’m happy. Ladies, be happy! You are beautiful human beings!"

Bianca is one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever met in my life. Young, beautiful and strong, this girl is a powerhouse when it comes to inner strength. When I asked her to write a small paragraph about herself, she wrote: "I believe the beauty in life is being able to find your inner strength. I come from a world of severe anxiety, a world where the word "strength" seemed way past anything I could dream of. But through finding what I am good at, through disciplining myself and allowing myself time, I have found strength. I know what it is like to feel like you have been defeated -- like you are alone and scared. But I want to tell you that you have that strength within you, you are capable of achieving your dreams and you will one day conquer your fears."
To inspire other women, Bianca says: "Never let the voices in your head tell you youcan’t, because they are wrong. You CAN. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and don’t even think about looking back. You are beautiful, you are unique, and you are one heck of a rockstar. Go get em."
If you want to feel even more inspired by Bianca, you can follow her on Instagram.
Ellfie is one of the sweetest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. She's passionate, caring and kind. When I asked her what motivates her the most in life, she couldn't help but saying: "sweet people like you."
After complimenting my work, she told me how much her mother gives her strength, along with her friends and other family members. Ellfie is also very passionate about her favourite group, BTS (a seven-member South Korean boy band). When I asked her why she loves them so much, she said: "they really started from the bottom and no one ever thought they'd be so successful, but they worked very hard and now they're at the top! It really encourages me to never give up and chase my dreams, too."
To inspire other women, Ellfie says: "Life is too short to care about the wrong people. Love yourself!"
Laurie Brunet Taillon
Laurie is the kind of woman that will intimidate you with her beauty and strong character at first -- but will make you fall in love with the sweet girl who hides within.
When I asked her to tell me a little bit more about herself, Laurie wrote: "En grandissant, j'ai suvi beaucoup d'intimidation à l'école et j'ai développer un énorme problème de confiance en moi pour toutes sortes de raisons. Les enfants riais de mon surplus de poids, de mon odeur car mes parent fumaient la cigarette en allant jusqu'aux vêtements que je décidais de porter. Maintenant, je suis fière de qui je suis et je suis en paix avec moi même. Je remercie le seigneur du corps qu'il m'a donner et je vous assures que personne ne peux atteindre la confiance que je porte si bien à ce jour!"
To inspire other women, Laurie says: "Soyez en paix et en harmonieavecvotre corps et votre esprit." ("Be in peace and harmony with your body and spirit.")
Aline is a brave young woman who moved to Rio de Janeiro when she was only 19 years old just because she wanted to go to Med school. She didn't know anyone, but she followed her dreams regardless of her fears. She graduated in the end of 2016 and started her residency right after. It's not easy for her at all, but she keeps following her dreams.
Fun fact about Aline: if she had to choose only one food to eat for the rest of her life, it would be potatoes.
To inspire other women, Aline says: "Our lives become so much better when we choose to be happy instead of being right; when we choose to not care about other people's opinions about us and when we stop overthinking what is beyond our control. Our lives become so much better when we choose to be free."
Aline is one of the most passionate people I know. Huge lover of cats, she would do anything to save their lives -- which already shows how great of a human being she is.
Not only that, she fights for women rights with all her strength (and passion). A true feminist who's always willing to help other women. Aline is also a great daughter, sister and best friend -- I can assure you.
To inspire other women, Aline quoted Jane Austen: "I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives."
When I asked Emily to write a short paragraph about herself, this is what she wrote:
“I’m a 22 year old tattoo artist and part time model. I’m also a makeup enthusiast living a stress free life. I always knew from a young age that I would work in the art industry but I never thought that I would get where I am today; doing tattoos, modeling on my free time and having so many people loving the makeup looks that I post online. Plus, I get to work with woman who wants to hide scars or bad tattoos, so I get to make them feel pretty, which makes me very happy!
I just started my career and I can’t wait to see where life will take me next!”
To inspire other women, Emily says: “Girls, don’t forget to be yourself, make that your priority because once you do that, you’ll definitely feel better about everything and people will notice. Afterward, you’ll see that those people will treat you like you deserve to be treated; loved and cared!”

Lindsay is an artist from Montreal, who you'll often find painting or drawing. Art has always been her favourite means of self expression, and though it can be a difficult path, she has chosen to pursue art as a career. Before studying fine arts and later graphic design, she studied various subjects, but found she always came back to art as she missed creating.
Lindsay loves animals and this is shown through her art, as they are often her main subjects in her pieces.
To inspire other women, Lindsay says: “If you find something you're passionate about, don't be afraid to pursue it! Staying true to yourself is the key to a happy life.”
Audrey is a passionate young woman who fights for girl power and body acceptance. With a positive attitude, she brings nothing but joy to those around her.

When I asked Stephanie to write something about herself, she wrote: “Im a loving mom. I survive on wine, sticky kisses and rock n roll. Im an old school rocker chick, to the core. I love concerts and music. Last year, I’ve seen Metallica and Guns n Rose's. I've always been a down to earth person, who loves to sit outside by a fire and stare at the stars for no particular reason.”
To inspire other women, Stephanie says: “Part of being a woman is to push your boundaries, let go of all your insecurities, throw them out the window. You don't need to wear them anymore. Strip down to the truth, the real you under all that mess. There she is — the beauty inside of you. The one you forgot even existed. Love yourself.”

Elizabeth is one of my biggest inspirations. Young, intelligent and determined, Elizabeth fought her eating disorder with all her strength and finally found the way to recovery — all by herself.
When I asked her to tell people about her story, this is what she wrote: “I am someone who loves. I love to wake up every morning and stretch out my arms and legs. I love turning on the radio and listening. I love to sing, I love to dance. I love to look at other human beings; I love the life they cary, the lines that compose their faces and their bodies. I love to capture what I see in a drawing, a painting, a film. I love light and also when it leaves. I love the people in my life and I love me. I love deeply and I love to be.”
To inspire other women, Elizabeth says: “To practice self-love and self-acceptance is to honour the gift that is life.”
Emilia is an inspiration. Beautiful, fun and free, she does what she wants and doesn't care if people like it or not. I remember the first time I saw her, I told myself: "I need to photograph this woman one day!" And here she is. It was a pleasure meeting her!
To inspire other women, Emilia says: "I'm not sure what I could say to inspire other women, but know what I'd like to hear: you are capable of so much more than you think you are right now. Also, do whatever you want."

Her biggest motivation in life is her girlfriend, Mariane. Love is a powerful thing.
To inspire other women, Alie says: "Choose carefully the ones you trust. Not everyone wants to see you succeed in life."
Ana is far away from home and she's still trying to find herself in life... While climbing, pole dancing and playing video games. Photography is one of her passions, along with pretty much any kind of art. She's an off-duty vet, a crazy cat lady, an aspiring photographer, socially awkward and she's in the fight against Body dysmorphic disorder.
Ana's biggest motivation in life is love. She's striving to find love particularly within herself while loving and taking care of everybody else. That's her thing.
To inspire other women, Ana says: "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Confucius Yeah, I know it hurts. I know it sucks sometimes. But that's just life. We wouldn't recognize happiness if we never felt sorrow or pain. Learn to love all your scars. They're part of the wonderful human being you are now and they're responsible for all the knowledge you have. You'll be okay. I promise you. P.s.: Please, PLEASE, stop comparing yourself to others. You are your own kind of gorgeous. (I'm repeating that to myself too. We're together on this)."
Catherine is currently working as an event organizer -- an area that exploits the majority of her interests and allows her to flourish professionally.
She is an ambitious and persevering person; when she sets a goal for herself, she does everything she can to achieve it. Sometimes she's a bit too perfectionist, but she knows we have to try not to be too hard on ourselves.
What motivates Catherine and allows her to take care of herself is to have a healthy lifestyle; to train and eat healthy (and to never forget to have a cheat day from time to time).
Catherine's passions are cooking, traveling, new discoveries of all kinds, design, training.
To inspire other women, Catherine says: "When life puts you in tough situations, don’t say 'why me', say 'try me'."
Vicky is a beautiful, bright young woman, and I had such a great time photographing her! When I asked her to write a short paragraph about herself, this is what she decided to share with us: “Peau Sauvage nous demande de faire une courte description de soi, mais afin de parler de moi, je dois parler de Montréal.
To inspire other women, Vicky quotes Merci Queen B: “What’s your aspiration in life? My aspiration in life... would be... to be happy.”
Carol is probably the strongest person I know. She fights for her family, she fights for her believes, and above all things she fights for her family's well-being. She's the kind of person who would exchange her own happiness and peace of mind for someone else. I admire her so, so much! Carol is also a great dancing teacher. A very successful one!
To inspire other women, Carol says: "The true beauty of a woman lies in the struggle and the courage to be what she wants to be, and to start all over again with her head held high whenever necessary. We are strong and no one can tell us otherwise!"
To see more of Carol's work as a dancing teacher, you can check out her instagram!
Valerie is a makeup artist and creative writer. She’s absolutely obsessed about everything horror; horror movies, books, Halloween decorations, you name it! She loves oddities like Ouija boards, taxidermy or antiques. She is also a die hard Harry Potter fan!
Her biggest motivation in life is truly the people that surrounds her. She is so lucky to have such amazing friends and family. She is also very fortunate to have a life partner that motivates her and encourages her to be a better version of herself.
Valerie suffers from PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), and she wrote a very important message to all women out there who might fight the same battle:
"It’s not easy being a woman. Facing society and all of it’s unreachable goals of a perfect body, perfect hair, perfect height and weight. It’s not easy living in fear that something we do comes off as “not feminine enough”. It’s hard being constantly harassed, cat called, receiving unsolicited pictures of male genitalia... I could go on and on. But hey, I love being a woman, women are amazing!
This being said, imagine being told that all your “woman nightmares” were to come true. You’ll gain weight very easily, and will have an extremely hard time losing some. You’ll start to grow facial hair, and slowly but surely lose the only hair you like to grow; the one on your head. Your hormones will be so out of whack that you’ll start feeling like you do when your period is about to hit, but almost 24/7. Speaking of your period, you may not get it at all, but if you do, it’ll be very unpredictable (like 5 months without bleeding, and then 4 weeks straight of it) and you’ll bleed like there’s no tomorrow. You’ll start having bad acne all over your face, it will hurt, and even a thick coat of makeup will not be able to hide it all. To top it off, you may not be able to carry a child.
This is my reality, as a woman diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), symptoms due to an imbalance of reproductive hormones, caused by multiple cysts in my ovaries. It is the leading cause of female infertility. This syndrome affects 1 in 10 women, so if you’re not the 1, you surely have a woman in your life facing this battle.
Please be mindful. Please think twice before calling a woman lazy because she is overweight. Please don’t say “wash your face’’ to a woman with acne. Please don’t think a woman is not “feminine’’ because she hasbody or facial hair. Please don’t assume all women have their period. Please be aware when speaking about the joys of pregnancy to a woman. You never know what they are fighting. Women are amazing, women are warriors.
To inspire other women, Valerie says: “Know your worth. Your body doesn't define you. Stay away from poisonous people that bring you down, because you are worth more. You are worth feeling good about yourself. Someone that makes you feel otherwise doesn't deserve to be a part of your life. Put yourself first, always.”
Jade is an incredible person. When I asked her to write a short paragraph about herself, this is what she decided to share with us:
“Society's standards of beauty are unrealistic for women, and it has deeply affected my life, especially when I was a teenager. I struggled with eating disorders, self-harm and depression for several years because I wanted so much to be socially accepted, to be “normal”, to be “perfect.” Luckily, the older I got, the better I understood that it’s impossible.
I’m not a doll, I’m not made of plastic. I’m human, I’m a woman.
My body may change, I can lose or gain weight, I can either cut or let my hair grow. I have scars and stretch marks — I’m not perfect, perfection doesn’t exist. I’m real!
My body is the only one I’ve got; it deserves love and respect. We’ve gone through a lot together — my body is strong and soft. The most important thing is your own comfort! I no longer wish to be perfect, or to “measure up” to any beauty standards. I started to accept my body when I noticed that all the women I find beautiful don’t measure up to any standards either.
I’m still struggling with a lots of things; my mental illness won’t go away on its own. It’s part of me and I’ve learned to accept it instead of seeing it as a curse.
We’re all different and that’s what makes people so interesting. I’m celebrating diversity through my photos, and I’m still trying to find a way to love myself 100% because I deserve it — and you deserve it, too.”
To inspire other women, Jade says: “Even if society has forgotten you, or made you feel far from being beautiful, I want you to believe me when I say you’re gorgeous! Let’s all respect each other’s bodies and celebrate diversity!”
Jeanne wrote about herself:
“My name is Jeanne Chouinard and I am a Nursing Student. I am from a family of 6 children and, for us, family means everything. I am really close to my siblings; they are all my best friends.
I practice a lot of different sports, such as soccer, hockey, dek, yoga, snowboard etc. Physical activity is really important it keep your soul and body in a balance.
I would describe myself as a simple person, every little thing in life make me happy. I believe we should enjoy those simple things more because it is those little things that really count in life. I also believe kindness is the most important thing in a person and that a smile is the best makeup a woman can wear.
I care a lot for people and want to help everyone, that is why I decided to become a nurse. I am also a real feminist I believe all women are beautiful in there own way, each one of them is worth loving. Women are like a pieces of art all different but all so beautiful.
I am also part of the LGBTQ movement and that is something really important for me, everyone should be treated the same way regardless there sexual orientation or identity, no one should be left behind.”
To inspire other people, Jeanne quotes Coco Chanel: "I believe beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself."

Ailie's biggest motivators have been the two strongest women in her life: her mother and grandmother. Her mother was a Scottish immigrant who had been ripped from her family and moved to Montreal where she spoke no French and was forced to visit her incredibly cruel father in the summer.
Ailie didn't understand her mother's perspective for a very long time but, as she grew older and learned more about her mother as a person, she found herself empathizing and praising her mother for her strength and resilience.
Ailie's mother was extremely unhappy and dealt with plenty of mental illnesses, alcoholism, and abuse. She reminds Ailie a lot of herself, and she finds herself wanting to learn from her experiences so that she can get better at her own situation and help those around her.
To inspire other women, Ailie quotes Mary J. Blige: "You can look at my palm and see the storm coming. Read the book of my life and see I've overcome it."

To inspire other women, Lynn says: "Keep pushing and challenging yourselves to achieve what you want in life. Always give your best, even in the smallest things. One day, this small thing might become a very important part of your future."
Maria Isabel is not the type of person who has high standards for herself and she thinks it's ok to not know precisely what we're expecting from life.

Maria Isabel is a big believer that if you want something, do it yourself. Don't wait for anyone.

Corinne is an example when it comes to being true to who you are. When I asked her to tell me more about herself, she said:
To inspire other women, Corinne says: “Even if we feel lonely, we have to stay true to who we are. And freaks do it better!”
